From reading the article, I learned that if you want to capture a scene as the human eye looks at it, then white balance should be on your mind. White balance is the process of removing or neutralizing color casts in your images. Photographers often want to produce images that have natural lighting, white balancing carefully adjusts your camera settings to counteract color casts. The bulk of white balancing in photography consists of color temperature correction.

White balance settings:

  • Sunny- works for mid-morning and mid-afternoon sun.
  • Shade- works for scenarios with heavy shade.
  • Cloudy- works for outdoor scenes featuring overcast lighting.
  • Flash- works for scenes lit by standard off-camera speedlights and pop-up flashes.
  • Incandescent- works for indoor scenes lit by standard warm bulbs.
  • Fluorescent- works for indoor scenes lit by fluorescent bulbs.
